CNT Trained In Bomb-Making Nabbed In Quirino Province


    CAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela  – A member of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New Peoples Army Terrorists (CNTs) trained in bomb-making in Mindanao was nabbed by the joint elements of PNP Region 02 and 5th ID, Philippine Army in the morning of February 15, 2018 at Sitio Upper Anuhan, Brgy. Jose Ancheta, Maddela, Quirino.

    The arrested CNT was identified as Kevin Bulayo Namulngo aka Glenn/Jayjay, member of Platoon 3 of the Vinerando Villacillio Command, and a designated “blasterman.” CNT Namulngo was arrested in his residence at Sitio Upper Anuhan, Brgy. Jose Ancheta, Maddela, Quirino, while the joint PNP and AFP troops were serving a search warrant for illegal explosives, issued by RTC Branch 24, Echague, Isabela on February 14, 2018.

    The following items were recovered by the government  forces during the search: 14 pcs anti-personnel IED, 17 pcs firing device, 8 pcs Anti-tank IED, 13 ft firing wire, 62 ft detonating cord, 4 pcs power source battery pack, 1 caliber .45 pistol, 2 magazines for caliber .45 pistol, 7 rounds ammunition for caliber .45 pistol, 6 pcs assorted cellphone, 1 pc laptop, and numerous subversive documents with high intelligence value.

    According to BGen Bartolome Vicente O Baccaro AFP, Commander, 502nd Infantry Brigade, CNT Namulngo had undergone a two-month training for Bomb-making in Mindanao before his involvement in two separate IED explosion incidents in Maddela in 2017.

    BGen Perfecto M Rimando Jr AFP, Commander, 5th Infantry Division commended the operating troops for the successful apprehension of Namulngo. “ The arrest of Namulngo and the confiscation of the IEDs and its accessories from his possession manifest the evil intents of the CNTs. Their real intention is to destroy and kill people, and this is the trademark of terrorists. ” BGen Rimando said.

    “Imagine the destruction and damages it would have caused if these IEDs were distributed to his fellow terrorists, lives, and properties of both soldiers and civilians will not be spared. The military has actually stopped using explosive devices in compliance with the provisions of the International Humanitarian Law; but the CNTs, they continue to violate the law. We salute the civilians who reported the whereabouts of Namulngo. With his arrest, we have saved precious lives and properties.“ Bgen Rimando added.
