CAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela – The KARAPATAN -Cagayan Valley spelled another lie to the public just to cover-up the legitimate surrender of two Communist Terrorist (CT) members to the elements of the 86th Infantry Battalion at Brgy San Carlos, Echague, Isabela on November 12, 2017.

The Karapatan reported that certain Roberto C. Dalupang Jr, 17 years old; and Oliver D. Molina, 26 years old; both from Purok 3, Barangay Diasan, Jones, Isabela and both are farmers, were allegedly missing and illegally detained and pointed out their presence at the Camp of 86IB.

However, according to Lieutenant Colonel Remigio Dulatre, Commanding Officer of 86IB, the duo claimed that they were regular members of the CT group, and they surrendered to his troops. “The duo, Dalupang and Molina approached our troops and declared their intention to surrender after claiming that they were members of the CT group under a certain Joshua, whom our troops encountered a few days ago.” LT. COL. Dulatre said.COL. Dulatre added that the two were brought to Echague Police Station for recording purposes and they voluntarily gave their affidavits to the soldiers. The two likewise had undergone medical examinations to certify that they were not mishandled and they have issued release papers, to attest that they are no longer in the custody of 86IB.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Paul Talay Atal, D.P.A. AFP, Commander, 5th Infantry Division commended the troops of 86IB for their professionalism in handling surrenderees amidst the death of one member of 86IB. “The way you handled the surrenderees bespeak of your professionalism as members of the Star Troopers. You treated the surrenderees well by attending to their needs and even provided them the right information on government programs intended for the surrendering CTs.” Maj Gen Atal said.

“The concocted allegation of the Karapatan group is a desperate move to discredit the military, as they want to cover-up the surrender of the CT members. This is a manifestation that CT members are now convinced that clinging to the CT group is a mistake and the promises of good life made by the CT leaders are but lies and a hoax.” Maj. Gen. Atal, stressed.

Maj. Gen. Atal further reiterated his call to the remaining CT members to avail of the Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government, to return to the mainstream of society and to live peaceful lives.
