PRRD lauds and honor the Star Troopers

                    The Commander-in-Chief, Armed Forces of the Philippines, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte lauds and honor the Star Troopers in his visit at Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela on September 18, 2018.

                    As the President returns back to the Camp, he was escorted to the front of the Old Admin Building for the presentation of the Former Rebels and viewing of recovered firearms. After which, he witnessed the turn-over ceremony of one unit four-wheeled tractor and immediately followed by Talk to troops held at the Headquarters 5th Infantry Division Grandstand.

                    Subsequently, the President led the pinning of the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kampilan to the following Wounded-In-Action (WIA) Star Troopers with the assistance of Gen. Carlito G Galvez Jr, Chief of Staff, AFP and Major General Perfecto M Rimando Jr, Commander, 5ID.

                     The Order of Lapu- Lapu with the Rank of Kampilan Medal was awarded to the four wounded Star Troopers namely: Sgt Arnold Mangawit, Sgt Reynald Tumangil, PFC Sergio Cawad and PFC Jaymar Oligo. The Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kampilan recognizes government personnel and private individuals who get wounded or suffer losses while taking part in the programs of the President.

                    Meanwhile, the President lauded the troops for their unwavering dedication to their duties for protecting the people and defending the country. Likewise, he extoled the troops with their invaluable support and assistance especially in the relief and recovery of communities affected by Typhoon Ompong.

                    The President speaks with pride to the troops by saying, “By being here we also honor the sacrifices of our wounded and fallen soldiers who have fought for the freedom we currently enjoy. In fact, the conferment of the order of Lapu-Lapu to four of you today is a proof of your patriotism and bravery in face of danger,” he said.

                    Also, the President commended the Star Troopers for their active involvement and relentless efforts against the various threat groups in their area of    operations. According to him, the presence of the NPA surrenderers is an attestation of 5ID’s achievement and a result to restore peace in our land.

                    President Duterte gave his assurance to the Star Troopers by saying, “As your Commander-in-Chief, I assure you, that you are not alone in this fight, you have my full support and I stand by you as we secure a safer future for our children. I will always take care of you as long as I am the President of the Republic,” he vowed.

                    According to him, choosing the pace of soldiery is one that is difficult and that requires selfless dedication. But he guaranteed that the government will provide the tools and the resources necessary to effectively perform the mandate as protectors of the nation.

                    Indeed, President Duterte emphasized that we need reliable and determined leaders, who will continue to fight against the illness of the society and help in realizing our shared vision for stronger and safer nation.

                    President Duterte ended his message with optimism and hopefulness by saying,” with your bravery and patriotism, I am optimistic that we will one day defeat all threats to our sovereignty, improve the lives of the people and strengthen the foundation of a more inclusive and progressive tomorrow.”

                    President Duterte quoted, “We are all workers of the government and we work for the people.”
